Devo (the plan not the 80s music group)

So I know that you're reading this and are just dying to know how my devotions are going. Well, it's going well. I was over ambitious even in my "small" plan. This was actually a big plan.... 1) Read the scripture that goes with the Daily Bread entry 2) Read the Daily Bread entry 3) Read the Chapter of Proverbs that corresponds to the day's date 4) Write in S.O.A.P. journal about one of the Bible readings of the day 5) Write down prayers The part of the plan that has gone really well is this: eating within an hour of waking up and doing my daily quiet time before I get to play with my blackberry. The first thing I look at is my Daily Bread email. Then I grab the bible I keep next to my bed and read the scripture that goes with the devotion. I've actually been getting up at 0430 on my work days. That gives me time for devotions, getting ready and out the door to get to work a little before 0600. (I work a 10 hour shift from 6am to 4pm). Do People See Jesus In Me?

Today was a really cool day.  A friend and I trekked to the main branch of our city's library, just to hang out and read.  It is a really neat building; there is a very large new building built right next to, and attached, the original library.  The juxtaposition of the now main, and modern portion of the library nestled behind the classic architecture, which now houses the fiction sections, is very beautiful and poetic. And people talked to me today.  Complete strangers.  All I had to do was make eye contact and smile. It was amazing how that little double action brings such big results. Someone asked me to watch his stuff at the adjacent computer station while he was up.  Another gentleman, walking through the library with a couple women complimented me on my hair.  One of the library employees stopped to chat for a moment; warning me of the impending snow, sharing the fact that she was from Panama originally and they didn't get weather like this.  75 degrees all year round.

Heaven's Eyes

To say I struggle with how I see myself is a bit of an understatement. Whatever it is that blocks me from seeing my true self, the beautiful lovely daughter God sees I get a glimpse here and there of who I really am. This song from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack is a good reminder that we can't really see the way God sees. He knows the impact of our every thought and action and random bit of kindness. I can only be obedient, plant the seeds and trust Jesus' promises.
